The advent of the Internet saw many bloggers that the term blogosphere had actually entered the Webster dictionary. However, as you may know it, no people are immune to the Cardinal Sins of blogging, including you. Imagine this situation:

Pride

You are a newbie to the blogosphere but you actually believe that your writing skills are better than others are. You really think that you can hit so much traffic overnight by posting entries you believe are better than others are.

Gluttony

Then those nights saw you dreaming of having a vast readership. You are deluded by the idea that you can have all the audience you want.

Lust

Blogs can get you somewhere. But you actually believe that your blogs can get you somewhere easily. Of course, you want to be the next acclaimed gossip blogger in the world. Or the next humorist in the blogosphere then wait for some agent to pick you up and put you on the next best sitcom in television.

Envy

But lo! You have some other bloggers who have already gained a wide array of readers as you do. You didn’t notice that those blogs have been in the information superhighway for quite some time and have already established their names. You are blinded by envy.

Anger

After many times of trying to keep up with them, you end up writing something lashing out these bloggers because you think that it is the best way to gain readers for there might somebody somewhere who are feeling just the way you do.

Sloth

Now, you are obsessed with piling up those readers and followers of your blog that you continue bashing other bloggers. Then, you run out of ideas and use unnecessary applications believing your readers will appreciate them without much regard to effective writing.

Greed

Unfortunately, blogging takes time and lashing others work or blog entries for nothing but to get to the top will do you no good. Haste makes waste, they say. These deadly sins of blogging will only lead to nothing but ruin. And always remember, all these spring from too much pride.

Hi Isabel, it’s nice to land on your blog. Good job with outlining the sins of blogging. I think having any type of high ego or hubris will eventually lead a blogger to failure. In contrast, having humility and a positive attitude will help a blogger towards success. I try my best to not be the things that you listed here and so far I’m enjoying the process of blogging. Thank you for this. It was different from what I’ve read so far today. :)
