Maintaining a blog all the time is not an easy task, and no matter how much you love the topic you are blogging about, sooner or later you are bound to suffer from blogger’s blog. There will be days, or maybe weeks, when nothing interesting comes to mind. When you feel like you will never be able to write a blog again for the next few years. When you feel that you have even forgotten the basics of what you started blogging about. Symptoms of blogger’s block, if there are any! However, instead of vehemently fighting it, the way to go is to take it easy and go with the flow. Some ways by which you can combat blogger’s blog and come back fighting fit are:

Take A Break: Even when you are not able to write a single post, you are always thinking about what you can write about and how. Time to stop doing that as well! Take a break from thinking about your blog—go out, hang with friends, read up on different things, pick up a favorite book, watch TV, go to the movies. Not thinking constantly about your blog will clear up your mind and ideas will start flowing in all by themselves once again.

Keep Making Notes: Your best ideas may come at a time when you are not sitting down in front of a PC screen. It may be when you are out for a walk, in the loo or lying in bed waiting for sleep. More often than not, we end up forgetting them when we sit down to write. A good way to keep track of the meanderings of your fertile mind is to note these ideas down as soon as they come. I note mine down on my cell phone, since that is an accessory I never go without. You can use your object of choice—phone, iPad, portable or cell phone voice recorder or just plain notebook and paper. When down with writer’s block, you can turn to these ideas and get prolific again.

Check Out Other Blogs: Reading up what other bloggers in your category are writing about is sure to fire up some imagination. I am not saying that you should just go ahead and spin something that you have picked up from the topmost blog in your category, but if something interesting catches your fancy, then you can definitely explore sharing it with your bloggers, of course, after putting your own spin on it. You may also come across topics that you thought you would blog about but which slipped out of your mind as time passed.

Post Something Different: If you really feel that you have run out of topics related to your theme, why not go ahead and do something different? You can definitely write about something that is not related to the main theme of your blog as long as you are equally passionate or interested in it. After all, your readers can also enjoy a break from reading about the same thing again and again if the diversion is a good read.

Make Lists Your Best Friend: Some of the best blog posts I have read have been lists of useful or fun things. The good thing about these lists is that they do not take long to either read or write and they give a lot of information in a small post. Lists of free stuff like software, tutorials and videos related to your theme or topic or a list of fun stuff is always hit.
