Having a Blog and website has its own pros and cons. However if I have to pick one out of the two I would without a doubt select the former.
Blogs are special and different. They are quick, easy to understand and navigate. You do not need to have knowledge about CSS and Html to start a blog. In case of a website you cannot start one if you do not have at least some basic information about html. If you’re a complete Zero in html then be ready to spend a good sum on the web designers. The story is a bit different when it comes to setting up your own blog. It’s not as difficult as one thinks it to be. Once you have registered a domain and hosting space for your blog you are all ready to begin. I always recommend Hostgator.com to my readers for registering domain and hosting due to their outstanding customer service. You can check one of my old blogs where I have briefed about selecting a good domain and hosting service for your blog/website.
Once you have your domain and hosting registered you can check out my blog “How can you install on your website in less than 5 minutes.”
Are Blogs Like Websites?
Blogs are different without a doubt. They are search engine friendly and get faster indexed as compared to any website. There are 3 big reasons why blogs are so different as compared to any given website:
Blog Content:
If you have ever come across a blog you will often find that a blog is updated more frequently with content as compared to a website. In some cases you will also find bloggers updating their blog with content multiple times a day. Regularly updating content attracts more readers and you will often find visitors coming back to your blog for more.
I am personally a very big fan of WordPress blog. What amazes me most is the ease by which a person can add new blog posts to his blog. It’s just a matter of seconds really. Unlike website where you have to create new html pages and accordingly adjust the content into the website design. It’s quiet a tedious task especially for a person like me who is not a pro in Html or CSS. Besides adding new posts Blogs also have useful features whereby you can upload your photos for posts, videos, audio, media etc.
Blogs also have this amazing feature whereby your posts are arranged in reverse-chronological order. It’s basically like you will find all your new posts showing first and older posts below. Blogs have different Plugins and widgets like Related Posts Plugin, Popular Posts Plugin which ensures that your older post do not go unnoticed.
RSS Syndication:
Blogs offer syndication feature to its followers. Unlike website you can not only view Blogs in their browsers. Blogs have this amazing syndication feature whereby your readers can subscribe to your blog.
Now what do I mean by RSS syndication. Blogs generates content in the form of a feed. To understand this in simple words, the content posted on a blog is provided in a format which can be easily read by your machine. What this does is, if you have the necessary software’s you can easily read the posted article without having to visit the blog.
Helps Build Community
Another feature which I like about blogs is that it helps me interact with people who have similar interest like mine. For example I run another blog on Computers. What this does is it helps me interact with people who have interest to computers just like I do. It helps me to communicate with people through the comment section. Learn new things from my visitors, share my knowledge, break news on a new product etc. Blogs are written in more conversational tone. It creates a community like atmosphere where visitors often make an attempt to visit your website to find more information.

Great post Isabel. I see that blogs are taking over slowly and on a rapid pace at the same time. Everyday I stumble upon a new blog. I am even thinking of making my other websites into a blog
