When starting out a blog, one of the most important questions you’ll need to address first is: how often should you post? Some bloggers choose to write several posts in advance, while there are others who write only when the spirit moves them. Posting daily is not a requirement, but the general rule is: you need to maintain consistency. If at the start of your blog you make 5 to 10 posts per day, and then suddenly lose your steam, then your followers will be aware of this and will start to lose interest on your blog. If you lose your interest, so will they.

Gaining Momentum Is Always the Way to Go

According to many bloggers, the best way to start off a blog is by posting at a pace you know you can keep up with. In days when you are feeling productive and you are able to write 2 or 3 additional posts, don’t post them all at once – it is best to post them as draft on your admin panel so you can publish them at a later time. Some bloggers choose to write 5 to 10 articles per day and then auto publish feature of their platform. This way, they are able to publish new posts even in days when they have nothing to say, or when they are unable to focus on their blog.

How many posts should you publish per day?

It all depends on what your blog is all about. For corporate blogs, then posting one article per day is enough. If yours is a sports blog and you’re monitoring a specific sports event, then you’ll probably need to make a blow by blow account. Hence, you’ll need to post more articles for specific days. If you have an entertainment blog, then 4 to 5 short posts will do.

How do you start your blog?

Starting off a blog is difficult because you’ll need to decide what your niche is and what your first posts will be. The good thing is that no matter what niche you choose, there are already successful blogs that you can use as a model. Look at your competition and see how they operate their blog. How often do they post and how long is each article? You don’t need to duplicate their blog, but you’d want to use them as a benchmark so you know that you’re not too far behind.

Of course, as a blogger, you will always need to keep quality in mind. You need to make sure that each blog contains useful information that your target audience can utilize. Also, you should never sacrifice quality over quantity – you need to keep your blog updated with content, but don’t slave over it. Find a realistic pace and stick to it. This way, you and your followers can enjoy the mentoring/learning experience.

Great post. As you say, it all depends on the type of blog and the niche. I also think it depends on the age of the blog. A newer blog might well need to post more than once a day to build up initial article stock as it were.

I would also say that it depends on the goals of the author as well as the author themselves. Do they have the time to post once a day, twice a day, three times a week.

I think the key factor is to be consistent as well as schedule to have fresh content often.
